The brief was simple: create a vibrant outdoor space while keeping the plane — a feature with strong family ties. The key was balance. We honored it without letting it dominate by painting it crisp white, allowing it to feel intentional and architectural, then softened the setting with layered planter boxes and lush greenery.

Materiality was everything. Fluted cladding wraps the custom planter bases, adding texture and rhythm at eye level, while Venice green terrazzo introduces depth and durability — wrapping the planter boxes and cantilevering into robust high tables designed for heavy hospitality use. The terrazzo’s aggregate flecks subtly tie back to the surrounding tones, giving the colour real longevity.

Punchy yellow booth seat cushions inject warmth and energy, contrasted with patterned back cushions to add movement and personality. The upholstery selections were chosen not just for vibrancy, but for performance — hard-wearing, outdoor-suitable fabrics that can handle a busy beer garden environment without compromising on feel.

By introducing curved booths and integrating fixed tables into the planter structures, we maximised seating capacity while ensuring each zone feels intentional and slightly different — layered, practical and full of character.
